The Gramercy Brass Orchestra (GBO) will celebrate its 40th anniversary next month. To celebrate his achievements over the past four decades, a special concert will take place in New York. The orchestra will partner with Amazon for this great show.

The GBO was founded in 1982 by trumpeter and cornetist John Henry Lambert. Lambert enlisted the help of other classical brass instrument enthusiasts in New York to realize his dream of a brass band. Since then, the GBO has performed with many industry giants, including the NY Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera and American Ballet Theatre. The GBO even won first place at the new North American Brass Band Championships of 1984 and 1985.

The objective of the orchestra has remained the same since its inception: to bring joy to listeners through performance and musical education.

In celebration of the 40th birthday, 25 of the award-winning GBO members will perform a special 90th birthday song by New York native film composer John Williams. They will also celebrate composers Sir Arthur Sullivan, Rafael Hernandez, Arthur Prior, Edward Kennedy (Duke) Ellington and Meredith Willson.

There will be a guest appearance from Broadway star, singer and actor Matthew Hydzik who appeared on “The Cher Show.” Renowned solo trumpeter and “The Music Man” singer Wayne Du Maine will also make an appearance. The final guest will be voice-over artist, singer and actor Michael Schuil who has worked in opera, jazz and cabaret sets.

NY1 Morning Show presenter Pat Kiernan will host a private VIP reception for all GBO sponsors after the concert. If you want to know more or become a sponsor, you can send an e-mail [email protected] .

Thrivent Financial will provide support for the orchestra alongside Amazon. NYC Board Member Carlina Rivera and the National Arts Club will be responsible for presenting the event. This show was made possible through donations and financial contributions made to the GBO by his friends.

The concert will take place on September 12 in Manhattan, outside Irving Place, between East 19th and 20th St and 3rd Ave and Park Ave. The show will begin at 6 p.m. The event is free.
