OPERAFEST Lisboa announces the 2022 season of the “Destiny in Vertigo” festival

OPERAFEST Lisboa unveiled its third edition, under the theme “Destiny in Vertigo”.

The festival opens with “Un Ballo in Maschera” by Verdi. The work, which will be directed by Jan Wierzba and directed by Sandra Faleiro, will star Carlos Cardoso, Catarina Molder and Christian Luján.

Performance dates: August 19 to 26, 2022

Next is “American Night: ‘Labirynth’ and ‘A Hand of Bridge’”. Tiago Oliveira directs the double program under the direction of Bruno Bravo. The Menotti oepra will star Tiago Amado Gomes and Cecília Rodrigues. The Barber opera will star Cecília Rodrigues, Ana Ferro, Alberto Sousa and Tiago Amado Gomes.

Performance dates: August 27 & 28, 2022

Isabelle Aboulker’s “Jeremy Fisher” is next on the program. The opera will star André Henriques, Mariana Fernandes, Luís Rodrigues and Pedro Fontes.

Performance dates: September 1 -3, 2022

“Minotaur” by João Ricardo, excerpts from “Songs of the Remission of Death” by António Chagas Rosa and “Nobody and Everyone” by Daniel Moreira will be the headliners of the third edition of the opera competition of the company Maratona Opera XX. “Minotaur” will benefit from a complete staging while the other two will be presented in stagings by four different director candidates who will direct two different versions of each of the operas presented. The works will star Ana Rita Coelho, Beatriz Volante, Catarina Mouro and João Valido Vaz and the four candidate directors are Anna Leppänen, Daniela Cruz, Inês Filipe and Rodrigo Aleixo.

Performance dates: September 6, 2022

Finally, “The Man of Dreams” by António Chagas Rosa will close the season alongside an opera rave. Catarina Molder, Christian Luján and Vasco Santos and Pedro Santos are the stars. Jan Wierzba directs and Miguel Loureiro directs.

Performance dates: September 10, 2022
