West Australian Music (WAM) has revealed who will take the reins as CEO, announcing the appointment of former Sydney Opera House CFO Natasha Collier.
WAM lost its CEO, Mike Harris, in February, when he left to take on the role of CEO of the Darwin Entertainment Center.
In recent months, Livia Carrè has served as CEO of WAM.
The new person appointed by WAM, Collier, was CFO of the Sydney Opera House between 2014 and 2017. Prior to that, she held the same position for BDO Presents, the company that hosted the Big Day Out festival. Most recently, she worked for the NSW Government Local Land Services as Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Executive Officer.
WAM President Al Taylor said the organization was delighted to confirm such a high-caliber candidate for the post.
“Natasha is highly regarded for her tremendous contribution to the arts sector, having led some of the country’s most successful arts organizations, including the Sydney Opera House and the iconic and long-standing Big Day Out,†said Taylor.
Taylor also noted that Collier is joining an exciting period of growth and revitalization for WAM, and said there will be a new era under his leadership.
“She is a valuable voice for the industry and a champion of innovation and transformation for organizational sustainability.” Taylor added. “With the uncertainty and challenges of the past 12 to 18 months, his insight, new thinking and strong advocacy will be of great help to our industry as it continues to recover. “
Collier said Washington state has always exceeded its weight when it comes to local talent in contemporary music.
“I am privileged and thrilled to join WA’s cutting edge musical body and champion the incredible array of talented artists and industry players in the State.”
Carrè, who has been the organization’s chief executive since 2016, added that there was a buzz around the office ahead of Collier from tomorrow, Thursday, July 1.
“We are now very confident that with Natasha’s skills, strategic direction and proven track record, WAM is ready for an exciting next phase and a prosperous future ahead. “
Collier has a five-year contract.
