news, local news,

Wagga dance students have organized their ballet exams a little differently this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than bringing an examiner to the studio to judge the students face to face, Yvonne O’Connor School of Dancing instead filmed their exams to send them virtually. Studio owner Yvonne O’Connor said a senior student helped with the shoot, and despite the “very difficult” COVID climate, the exams went well and were enjoyed by all students. “It was an experience for them to dance in front of a camera, rather than for a person,” Ms. O’Connor said. About 30 children completed their Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams at the studio this month. IN OTHER NEWS: As a teacher, Ms O’Connor is not allowed to enter the studio to attend exams, but she said every student seemed very happy when they walked out. “It just makes them realize something [and] work towards something, ”she said of the review process.
