New departures for All Seasons Orchestra – Times-Standard
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the local All Seasons orchestra has tried to stay busy making music virtually, taking advantage of current technology.
The orchestra performed a virtual performance of Leroy Anderson’s “Sandpaper Balletâ€, which can be viewed at AllSeasonsOrchestra.org , and is now in the production stage of the second virtual performance, “Waltz of Flowers” by Tchaikovsky.
Currently, All Seasons Orchestra is also working on resuming face-to-face activities.
“We are working with our site, the Eureka Woman’s Club, and the Humboldt County Public Health Department to develop a rehearsal plan,†said Susan Bicknell of All Seasons Orchestra. “We can be approved to resume rehearsals as of June 19.”
In view of the resumption of rehearsals, which will begin immediately, All Seasons Orchestra is seeking candidates for the post of Music Director / Conductor.
“This action does not reflect any dissatisfaction with the previous staff,†said Bicknell. “However, this reflects our desire to take advantage of the resumption of activities after a long hiatus, to review the needs of the orchestra and to seek more deliberately to meet them. Although we work with one person as the Music Director and one person as the Conductor, we seek to have one person fill both roles. This position receives very modest monetary compensation. Our statutes provide for an annual performance review. “
Anyone interested in this role should contact Susan Bicknell at [email protected] .com or 707-768-1975.
Details of the orchestra’s plans to reopen and its search for leadership are available on the band’s website at AllSeasonsOrchestra.org. Those interested in joining the All Seasons Orchestra as a player should contact Don or Susan Bicknell at 707-599-4691 or [email protected]
“We would love to have the opportunity to provide you with more information about the orchestra, the resources the orchestra has, as well as to find out more about you and your interest in us. Under non-pandemic conditions, the All Seasons Orchestra rehearses most Saturdays from 10 am to noon at the Eureka Woman’s Club, â€said Susan Bicknell.
